A woman has come up with an ingenious way of staying fit during lockdown by tethering herself to one end of her paddling pool so she can go swimming

Dedicated Jennie Jones attached a tether to the garden fence and climbed into a large paddling pool – meaning she can swim for as long as she wants, without going anywhere.

It’s like a watery version of a treadmill.

The 41-year-old, from Bradford-on-Avon, is an open water coach and PT at her business ‘BOAfit’ – so when lockdown was announced, she knew she needed to find a way to continue to do what she loves.

Jennie has posted her amazing invention online for all to see – she wanted to keep her clients inspired and show that there are ways to stay active during this time. All you need is a little creativity
My life is swimming,’ says Jennie. ‘I’m a member of my local swim club – BOA ASC – so swim with them three times a week, then teach seven sessions a week, then swim a couple of times in open water now it’s warmed up a bit.’

In short, it was basically unthinkable that Jennie could spend weeks on end without getting in the water.

‘Basically, I spend most of my time in the water,’ she explains. ‘I’ve messed around with tethering before in a small hotel pool. When lockdown was announced knew that this was the way to go to get my swim fix.’

The genius swimming hack is actually really simple – all you need is a garden space big enough and a large paddling pool. Oh, and loads of water.

My husband measured me up and researched the best pool and then we started the work in the garden to get it in, had to move a few plants and do some digging, but it’s totally worth it for my mental and physical health,’ she says. ‘I feel very lucky to have been able to do it.’

Jennie is keeping herself motivated with different challenges to push herself. She might not be able to swim like she normally does, but that doesn’t mean this time can’t be used to improve her technique.

A man alleged to be an Alfa was captured having sex with a mad woman in Ibadan. In a video going viral on Facebook, the man is seen approaching the woman in a dirty backyard where she lay on a concrete floor with her head resting on a mat.
